Our work
Recent decking installations across Cheshire
Every deck below was designed, framed and boarded by our own fitters — no subcontracted labour, no photographs borrowed from a supplier catalogue. They cover the full range of work we take on: low-level courtyard decks in Chester, raised platforms on Macclesfield slopes, hot tub surrounds in Northwich and large composite terraces for the newer estates around Wilmslow and Knutsford.
What you cannot see in a photograph is the part that decides how long a deck lasts: the frame. Ours are built at 400mm joist centres, kept clear of wet ground, ventilated on at least two sides and fixed with stainless or coated screws throughout. That is why these decks still look like this several seasons after handover.

A selection of finished gardens, with the specification behind each one.
Grey composite terrace with glass balustrade
A new-build garden that sat 500mm below the kitchen threshold. We built a treated softwood frame at 400mm joist centres on adjustable pedestals, ventilated the void on three sides, and finished in stone-grey composite with a frameless glass balustrade so the lawn view stays open from the bifolds.
Raised timber deck on a sloping plot
The garden dropped almost a metre from the conservatory door. A raised timber platform with a closed-board skirt, a code-compliant handrail and wide, shallow steps turned an unusable slope into the main sitting area, with a lavender bed tucked in beneath the deck edge.
Dark composite deck with integrated lighting
Built to be used after dark. Recessed riser lights in the steps, a warm-white strip under the built-in bench and low-glare fascia lights let the deck run straight out from the open bifolds. All cabling is in conduit and terminated to a switched outdoor circuit by a Part P electrician.
Courtyard deck for a terraced house
A narrow city courtyard with limited access — every board came through the house. We kept the build low-level over a ventilated frame on concrete pads, mitred the edge around the drainpipe and downstand, and left generous planting pockets so the walls could green up quickly.
Multi-level deck with pergola dining zone
Two linked platforms: a lower lounging level stepping off the lawn, and a sheltered upper dining level under an aluminium pergola with a retractable canopy. Planters were framed into the deck structure rather than sat on top, so the lines stay clean and the boards drain freely.
Curved hot tub surround
Hot tubs are heavy once filled, so the frame under the tub was doubled up and carried on its own pad foundations, independent of the walkway. The curve was set out on site and the boards ripped to follow it, with a slatted cedar screen for privacy from the neighbouring windows.
Full-length walkway and shed platform
A long, narrow plot that flooded along one side every winter. A raised composite walkway now runs the full length to a level platform at the shed, with the lawn re-graded and stepping stones set flush so the mower still passes cleanly.
Charcoal deck with outdoor kitchen
Designed around entertaining. The charcoal boards wrap a built-in planter bank on one side and a covered kitchen run on the other, with the bar unit fixed back to a noggin-reinforced section of frame and services run under the deck before boarding.
What happens between the survey and the photograph
Each of these projects followed the same route. A free site survey confirms levels, ground conditions and how far the frame needs to sit above soil. We then send a fixed written quote itemising frame, boards, fixings, balustrade, lighting and waste removal, so nothing appears later as an extra. Most gardens of this size take three to five days on site, and we clear and sweep at the end of every one of them.
If you would like to see work closer to home, tell us your town when you enquire — we can usually point you at a finished deck within a few miles, and several of our customers are happy for prospective clients to look at theirs.
